2. Cibeureum River

A river segment in Cibeureum River was selected as a restocking site few years ago. Thus, Local Fisheries Office included this river to be assessed as a potential restocking site for IFish plan. However, based on the field assessment, this river has 2 major issues as a restocking site. First, although the assessed area is located more than 22 km from seashore, this river segment is still exposed by seawater. This condition is particularly true during dry period where the water discharge from upstream is low. This processincreases salinity level in the river, which may not be ideal for releasing eels that have been adjusted to freshwater condition.

Another serious downside of Cibeureum river is the minimal depth of the river. During the dry season, the depth of the river may less than 20 cm; or, in the worst case, completely dried out. This condition may affect survivability of the released eels, especially during La-Nina period which generally suppress precipitation rate in Indonesia.
Due to these major issues, Cibeureum River was then excluded from potential restocking site
