Location Description

In order to determine the best location for freshwater eel stocking, IFish coordinated with Fisheries Office in Sukabumi District to provide a list of potential rivers that might be suitable for eel releasement. In the next process, IFish, working together with MMAF experts conducted field assessment on three main environmental condition, social-economic, and risk assessment analysis.
Based on MFO recommendation, there are 5 rivers that were proposed: Cimandiri, Cileutuh, Cikarang, Cikaso, and Cibuni. However, after discussion with experts and MFO, Cibuni was agreed to be excluded. Since Cibuni acts as administrative border, difficulties may arise due to ambiguity in its managerial status between two districts.

Initially, in each river, MFO proposed 1 specific location of potential stocking site. However, during the filed assessment, field team assessed additional potential location(s) in each proposed river based on information from local communities/fishers. In total, there are 8 potential location from 4 rivers that have been assessed
